While this book is set in a Sweat Lodge several of the stories shared are true. The characters Grandmother Wisdom and Eagle Eyes are the names given to Susan’s teachers, Ruby and Warren Newton who she learned from in the early 1980’s.
Susan brings those teachings alive within her Sweat Lodge experience coupled with her time alone in remote wilderness areas of where she worked as a Wilderness Ranger for 15 seasons.
The book begins right off with Susan in conversation with Grandmother Wisdom and foretells of many teachings that came through while in the wilderness. Most of the stories are true. Susan did channel several entities while in the wild from Water Bearer in Sky Lakes Wilderness to Protector of the Light in Mountain Lakes Wilderness to meeting Kajawa an age old elder who Susan encountered while in Red Buttes Wilderness; all places Susan worked in the late 1980’s through 2000 and began applying her teachings from the early 80’s.
Spirit Walker flows from conversion to conversation at different areas within wild areas. “Spending time alone one’s senses heightens and you feel more a part of the land over several years of being in wilderness areas” Susan says.
